Hello, friends,
Last week we talked about the UAW’s victory and the possibility of a general strike down the line. Well, dear reader, Tuesday was election night and there were plenty of victories with some defeats.
To go through an off-the-top-of-my-head list:
In Ohio, both the abortion protection and cannabis legalization ballot initiatives passed.
Democrats not only held the Senate in Virginia, but won back the House.
Kentucky voted to re-elect Democratic governor Andy Beshear.
Democrats came close to winning Mississippi (51/47 ish) in a state where ballot access issues (Specifically a lack of pre-printed ballots) suppressed the vote.
Local candidates running in allegiance to the bigotry group “Moms For Liberty” lost pretty regularly throughout their school board and other runs.
We didn’t win every single race we wanted to. For Example: My own home area was an absolute beat-down where a bunch of conservative Democrats lost to Fascist-adjacent Republicans. I feel like we’ve written about New York’s lackluster Dems before.
But overall we have to celebrate that we did, in fact, have a great night last night. Hell, my plans are currently to do the unthinkable and go to a comedy show. My wife loves Tim Dillon, so if all goes well that’s where I’ll be.
But that doesn’t mean we have nothing to write about, at least in the near future.
With That Said, An Announcement And A Slight Request
So, The Progressive Cafe is about to hit it’s first anniversary. Our first official article came out on November 11th, 2022, and was about Gerrymandering and how it always seems to bite us in the ass.
I’m planning to put out a commemorative article on the 11th, talking about what it means to me to be a Progressive.
What I’d like from you is for you to leave a comment using the little green button below telling me what being Progressive means to you. Comments are likely to appear in the article.
Also, feel free to subscribe. Who knows, maybe a miracle will happen and we’ll hit our 50-subscriber goal in time for the anniversary after all.

In Other News…
Sure, there are lots of bad things happening in the world despite all of the good news we’ve already touched on.
Yeah, there was a Republican Debate, but I skipped it because I could. Who was gonna stop me? I was too busy celebrating Tuesday.
But the SAG-AFTRA strike ended! And that’s awesome news!
